Why San Francisco Homeowners Choose Carrier Air Duct Cleaning

Air Duct Cleaning services for Carrier systems in San Francisco cost between $450 and $1,200 for a full system on a typical single-family home, and it’s a service we perform as an independent provider, not a Carrier-authorized dealer. What makes our Carrier work different is that we understand how the Infinity and Performance series behave when they’re attached to the old ductwork that fills this city’s Victorian and Edwardian housing stock. Carrier builds smart equipment; San Francisco builds tight, winding duct runs. The two don’t always cooperate, and that mismatch is where most of the problems we fix actually begin.

Call (951) 527-6259

If you’re dealing with false filter alerts on a Carrier Infinity air purifier, weak airflow on a second-floor Performance system, or dust that keeps coming back no matter how often you wipe down registers, call us at (951) 527-6259. We’ll tell you what’s actually happening inside your ducts before you spend a dollar.

Why Trust Linden Air Duct San Francisco for Your Carrier Air Duct Cleaning?

Most duct cleaning companies in San Francisco can vacuum out a vent. Far fewer can tell you why your Carrier Infinity control panel keeps throwing “check filter” alerts three weeks after you installed a fresh media filter, or why your Performance series heat pump sends plenty of cold air to the ground floor but barely whispers to the bedrooms upstairs. We can, because we see these systems every week in this city’s older homes.

Marcus Veale, our owner, got his trade fundamentals at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College and spent the better part of two decades working through residential and commercial HVAC systems across California before building Linden around one idea: tell the customer exactly what’s in their ducts, exactly what it takes to clean them, and exactly what it costs before anyone touches a vent cover. That’s how we run every Carrier job in San Francisco. We follow Carrier’s installation and service specs for duct sealing, coil cleaning, and airflow testing, and we use OEM-equivalent materials where it matters. We’re also clear about where it doesn’t: simple vent caps, flex sections, and register boots don’t need a Carrier logo on them to work correctly.

We’re an independent Carrier service provider. We are not affiliated with Carrier, not authorized by Carrier, and we don’t pretend otherwise. What we offer is San Francisco Carrier service experience specifically, and a written price before any work starts. Every tech who walks through your door is background-checked, identity-verified, and introduced to you by name and photo before arrival under the Threshold Standard. If I wouldn’t put it in writing before the job starts, it shouldn’t come out of my mouth either.

Common Carrier Air Duct Cleaning Problems We Fix in San Francisco

  • Infinity air purifier sensor fouling. The Carrier Infinity air purifier uses a sensing element that reads the static pressure across the media. In San Francisco’s fog-heavy neighborhoods like the Richmond and Sunset, fine salt-laden dust coats that sensor. The result is a false “replace filter” alert even with a brand-new filter installed. Cleaning the sensor during a duct service usually resolves it.
  • Performance series evaporator coil mold and condensation. San Francisco’s maritime air carries moisture and salt year-round. Carrier Performance series coils run colder than the old single-stage units they replace, which means more condensation. In homes where duct insulation is thin or missing, that moisture sits on the coil and grows mold within a season or two. We clean and sanitize the coil and address the insulation around the supply plenum so it doesn’t come back.
  • Retrofit flex duct disconnections in Victorian and Edwardian homes. When Carrier systems are retrofit into older San Francisco homes, the new equipment often gets connected to existing rigid duct using flexible connectors. In tight floor cavities and wall chases, those connections can pull apart, crush, or sag. We find disconnected flex duct on roughy one in five retrofit Carrier systems we inspect. The fix is reconnecting, supporting, and sealing the run.
  • Return duct leaks pulling crawlspace air. This is a big one in Noe Valley, the Mission, and other neighborhoods with raised foundations. Return ducts that run through unsealed floor cavities pull dust, fiberglass, and crawlspace air straight back into a Carrier Infinity or Performance air handler. We seal the return path with mastic, the same material Carrier specifies for duct leakage control, and verify the improvement with an airflow measurement.
  • Crushed flex runs on Carrier 59MN7 furnaces. The 59MN7 is Carrier’s high-end modulating gas furnace, and it moves more air at lower static pressure than older equipment. In tight San Francisco basements and attics, existing flex duct that was barely adequate for the old system becomes a choke point. We locate the crushed sections, replace them with properly supported flex, and restore rated airflow to the registers.

Carrier Parts & Our Repair-vs-Replace Approach

We stock OEM-equivalent mastic, foil tape, and flex duct that match Carrier’s original specifications because those materials are what a proper duct seal depends on. We don’t push brand-name parts where they don’t matter. A register boot, a vent cap, a section of flex duct, a few feet of FSK-faced insulation: quality aftermarket is exactly what those repairs call for, and we’ll never mark up a part just because it has a logo stamped on it.

For larger decisions, we use a simple rule. We only recommend full duct replacement when measured leakage exceeds 30% of total duct surface area. Below that, sealing and targeted repair almost always makes more sense, costs less, and gets your Carrier system moving air the way it should. If we recommend replacement, we’ll show you the leakage test numbers that justify it. Call (951) 527-6259 and we’ll walk you through what your system actually needs.

Our Carrier Service Process – Step by Step

  1. 1
Diagnosis. We measure static pressure, inspect the return path, check the evaporator coil, and look at the condition of the flex connectors on your Carrier air handler. For Infinity systems, we pull the purifier sensor and check it for fouling; for Performance series, we inspect coil condition and condensate drainage.
  2. 2
Repair and seal. We seal accessible duct joints with mastic matched to Carrier’s duct-sealing specs, repair or replace damaged flex sections, and reconnect any runs that have pulled apart. We clean return ducts fully, since that’s where San Francisco crawlspace dust does the most damage.
  3. 3
Coil and blower service. We clean the evaporator coil with a non-acidic coil cleaner and brighten it with a sanitizing rinse. The blower wheel comes out when possible; on tight Carrier 59MN7 installations where removal isn’t practical, we clean it in place with soft brushes and vacuum extraction.
  4. 4
Test. We re-measure static pressure and airflow before and after, so you can see the improvement in real numbers. We also re-check the Infinity air purifier sensor if it was fouled.
  5. 5
Warranty. Every repair we do is covered by a written guarantee, and if a covered repair doesn’t hold, we come back at no charge. The Threshold Standard applies to every tech on every visit. That’s our 365-day commitment, in writing.

Carrier Products We Service & Install in San Francisco

We service the full range of Carrier residential product lines: the Infinity Series with its communicating controls and air purifiers, the Performance Series with its two-stage compressors and variable-speed air handlers, and the Comfort Series for straightforward single-stage setups. The Carrier 59MN7 modulating furnace is one we see frequently in San Francisco’s older homes, often mated to ductwork that predates it by decades. We stock common replacement parts locally: flex duct, mastic, foil tape, condensate drain cleanout fittings, and coil cleaning chemicals approved for aluminum and copper coils.

We Also Service These Brands

Carrier is one of the brands we know best, but it’s not the only one we service in San Francisco. We regularly work on Lennox and Trane systems as well. Multi-brand experience matters because it means we’re not steering you toward one manufacturer’s equipment when another fits your home and your budget better. The ductwork doesn’t care what name is on the air handler.
